Swinford is a nucleated village and civil parish just over 3 miles south of Lutterworth. The population of Swinford is just short of 500.
Swinford an Anglo-Saxon name was “Suin Heaford” meaning “the head of the Suin” referring to a tributary of the River Avon. The village is steeped in history which is visible by looking at the village’s properties and from reading about the ‘Great Fire’ in what is now a farmer’s field. The parish church is All Saints, which is a 12th Century Norman rebuilding of an earlier Saxon church with a 14th century square bell tower.

Culture and Events
The Swinford Parish council regularly put events on which are often held either at the village hall of the All Saints Church for the villagers and any other locals who wish to join.
Kilworth House Theatre, only a few miles outside the village, stages productions at their open air theatre and other performing arts groups regularly produce shows at the venue of Lutterworth College.
Clubs and Leisure
Swinford has several different clubs such as the Swinford Operatic & Drama Society (S.O.D.S.) which is a Local community drama group for all ages. It holds monthly theatre trips, annual pantomime at the village hall and a treasure hunt and barbeque for villagers and locals to join in.
There is also the traditional Swinford W.I. (Womens Institute).
Swinford has a cricket team called Rowland UTD CC. Lutterworth is home to many other sporting clubs and facilities such as the Lutterworth Leisure Centre, and further afield at the Harborough Leisure Centre in Market Harborough. Other clubs include the Lutterworth Soccer Centre, Lutterworth Rugby, Lutterworth Golf Club, Kilworth Springs Golf Club, Ullesthorpe Golf Club and the Lutterworth Cricket Club all a short distance away.
